How It All Began

I’ve always been a private person online, but my love for travel photography and a desire to document my journeys led me to start Sandmann Travels. Originally, it was a way to share my month-long, cross-country RV road trip with close friends and family. After the trip, I discovered that my posts were inspiring others to get outside, explore more, and finally book those long-dreamed-of adventures.

What truly drives me is helping others realize that travel isn’t out of reach—even for those on a tight budget. I didn’t grow up traveling, but with a lot of research and a knack for finding deals, I’ve turned dreams into reality. Add in the magic of points and miles, and my passion for travel planning has taken off – allowing me to explore and share how anyone can travel smarter.

I’m Michelle, a passionate travel planner, RV adventurer, and points-and-miles enthusiast based in Maine.

Whether you’re dreaming of hiking through lush landscapes, snorkeling vibrant underwater worlds, or finding the perfect destination on a budget, I’m here to inspire and guide you every step of the way.

What makes Sandmann Travels unique?

  • Reality Over Perfection: I share the highs and lows of travel – what went wrong, what went wonderfully, and how to prepare for both.
  • Budget Travel Tips: From finding flight deals to leveraging points and miles, I focus on making travel affordable without sacrificing comfort.
  • Nature-First Adventures: My itineraries and tips revolve around the breathtaking beauty of the outdoors, from hiking and camping to snorkeling and stargazing.
  • Transparency: Whether it’s the financial side of owning an RV or the costs of travel, I believe in sharing the full picture to help you plan realistically.

Who I Help

My content and services are for anyone who loves nature, adventure, and meaningful travel experiences. Whether you’re a solo adventurer, a couple, or a family, I specialize in creating unique trips that balance affordability with unforgettable moments. Think hiking in national parks, horseback riding in remote destinations, or scuba diving in tropical waters – all without overspending.

Travel Philosphy

Travel planning should feel exciting, not overwhelming. That’s why I prioritize:

Flexibility on dates and even destination are going to allow for so many more trips throughout the year for the same price as hitting that trendy city or country during high season.

I know that museum is world class and a ‘must-see’ but if you don’t care about museums and would much rather go hiking, skip the dang museum!

Blending adventure with relaxation, while staying budget-conscious and not compromising comfort.

Life in Maine

(and on the road)

Living in Southern Maine – fondly known as “Vacationland” – means endless opportunities to explore the coast, hike mountains, and paddle serene lakes and rivers. Combine that with life in an RV, and I’ve embraced the freedom to roam, discovering numerous free camping spots and new adventures with my “home on wheels” (and dogs!) in tow.

Memorable Moments

Some of my most cherished travel memories include:

  • Getting engaged at a stunning Icelandic waterfall.
  • Scuba diving in Hawaii’s crystal-clear waters.
  • Canyoneering in the Azores Islands of Portugal.
  • Traveling across the U.S. in an RV with my two dogs.

These experiences fuel my passion for sharing travel tips, helping others create their own unforgettable moments.
